Dalwhinnie Voices

Hallo,I would like to let you know that Dalwhinnie had famous visitors as early as August 1858. They were Theodor Fontane, a famous German novelist, and his friend. The book he wrote later - Beyond the Tweed - is also available in English. They rested at Dalwhinnie Inn, and I would very much like to find an old photo or image of that inn, plus as much information as possible.

now that this wonderful old photo was found, I would like to ask for permission to use it in a historical paper, describing the various resting points of Fontane during his visit to Scotland.
I hope that Douglas Abercrombie will agree to let me have it, and will be looking forward to his reply.

Hi, I am writing an article for the Highland Family History Society about Dalwhinnie in the 1850s as part of my search for information about my great great grandfather who died in Dalwhinnie sometime before 1855. He was supposed to have been an innkeeper in the village (I am not convinced). Please could I use this photo as illustration? I will also send a copy of the article for the website, as there is some interesting Dalwhinnie-related information in family papers.

OK with me - I have a list of "Dalwhinnie Innkeepers" somewhere which I have yet to post. Dougie
